It's a scene from a threshing bee, an ode to my hometown of Barnes, Kansas. Barnes turns 150 (one year per citizen) this year, and so do I. Circa 1985, Barnes put together their version of a Summer carnival. It had a threshing bee, tractor pull, car show, flea market full of Vietnam era army surplus, a softball tournament, and a contraption where you could literally, I shit you knot, make your own rope.
